North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is a science and technology oriented higher education institute in Nirjuli, Itanagar, in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Established in 1984, it is a deemed-to-be-university, autonomous, fully funded and controlled by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Government of India.

Project Highlights
The LISBSYS ERP system was deployed on a Linux based server at NERIST campus. The implementation was done at a fast pace and most of the core modules became fully functional within few months. The academics data of over 3000 students was successfully migrated to LIBSYS ERP.
On the academic front the whole curriculum setup and examination processing of the Institute has been successfully delivered through LIBSYS ERP. The academic curriculum of NERIST is unique from other technical institutes in that it provides 3 courses (BASE, DIPLOMA and DEGREE) over a period of 6 years in its undergraduate level instead of a regular 4 year BTech/BE degree program conducted by other institutes. The BASE program is to encourage a policy of vocationalisation at the +2 level and to allow motivated students to go for DEGREE level while letting others to go out of the Institute to enrich their profession with some years of industrial experience. This made the academic structure and result handling quite complex and unique from other institutes which was successfully handled by LIBSYS ERP.
Movement of students across various programs for NERIST is quite complex and the same is successfully handled by LIBSYS ERP. Handling of Regular Examination, Re-appear and Re-evaluation, along with special feature of grace marks have been provided to NERIST. Several reports have been customized like, Tabulation Sheet, Mark Sheets, etc. The result from 2016 batch till current batch has been generated successfully with customization provided to meet NERIST specific needs.
Students have been provided a dynamic Students Portal which they are using actively especially for applying for leaves and viewing their attendance details. Through this portal online fee payment facility has been provided with the integration of payment gateway.
In the classrooms the students’ attendance is marked by the teachers through LIBSYS ERP Mobile App and Faculty Portal available on their smart-phones / tablets which makes their task very easy and saves a lot of time. Student leave and attendance has been integrated with academic performance through special features like ‘Short Attendance’.
NERIST is also extensively using the Assignments/Study Materials facility of the software to share assignments and study materials with students. The students in turn use their portal and mobile apps to download the same and provide their response.
The implementation team of LIBSYS ERP has provided dedicated support and full cooperation to the staff of NERIST and has been appreciated by the management of the institute. The Facebook comment by their professor in-charge of the project that “You guys are the most professional organization I have encountered; and I have encountered many!“ , itself speaks about the dedication and professionalism of LIBSYS ERP team.
